Today was about visiting the nearby town called Freshfields Village which is a walk of around a 1/3 of a mile. The young guys at the marina said "oh ya there are a few things at the local strip mall" . Well this is far from "a strip mall". This is a totally planned village community that reminded us of Intrawest's Whistler or Mount Tremblant. Its certainly isn't a cheap place to purchase things, but it is gorgeous. Pics attached as well as some sunset at the marina this evening.

We also met a fellow boater from Ottawa who is on his way to the Bahamas. He had some hair-raising tales of barely surviving the Nor Easter that came through New York back in October. Lynn and I had moved to Haverstraw Marina at that time which was on the western side of the Hudson River. This boater had stayed at Half Moon Bay ( which we also previously stayed at before as well ) which is on the eastern side. The storm that came through had western winds that blew across the river over shallow water and created havoc at that marina ( we were safe ). There were three different times that he thought they would lose the boat. Dock slips were rolling and lines were breaking. With the help of some fellow dock mates they were eventually able to get control , but he said it was very scary. ......Lynn did not like hearing these stories.

I also posted a couple of pictures of a "Dogspot" which is a place to put your dog when you go shopping! Never saw this before. One person who walked by said she has a dog and thought it was a good idea.
