Greetings from the first mate!

Yesterday we had a wonderful crock pot roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. The boat smelled sooo good after coming back from our daily trip to Freshfields. What an awesome name for a village. The place is hopping as families begin to gather for the holiday. We saw a lot of grandparents riding bikes and playing with their grandchildren. In the centre of town where they have open spaces with benches and artificial grass comfy furniture, there are bean bag toss games as well as many large Connect Four games. It all makes for an atmosphere of fun.

Strangely enough, when we got back to the boat we met our slip mate whose husband had been one of a dozen architects involved with the planning and design of Freshfields. Hindsight is a great thing and looking back the talented group realized in their quest for building interesting unique spaces they should have designated the centre of the village for “pedestrians only.” As an avid cyclist she said walking and biking are dangerous with the traffic as busy as it is on weekends and holidays.  The traffic wasn’t an issue for us having all the time in the world.

Tonight we’re heading to La Fogata for Mexican food.  “Chido!”
