We are officially in North Carolina. It was an absolutely beautiful day here. The trip was really not about crossing large bodies of water, but going through canals, which had 1 lock ( 1 foot drop ) and 3 lift bridges. They were relatively straightforward and didn't pose any problems. The biggest challenge was having these large yachts overtake you in a small channel. Most of them however did call on the VHF requesting to pass. One these yachts, was a beauty. We looked it up on the internet and this specific boat is up for sale for $14 million. Maybe we can pool some money from our friends and buy it :-). See picture below.

Because of the time change, we arrived when it was dark. The area before reaching Coinjock Marina is basically a large swamp. A channel has been dredged out so that boats can go through, but there isn't much room out there. All you have are the red and green markers which at night is very difficult to figure them out. Good thing we had our GPS to guide us through. It did a great job.

The marina here is very cool. It is so weird to see these multimillion dollar yachts parked right in front of a restaurant here that looks a lot like The Catch in Port Dover. Is was packed so we had to eat at the bar but the food was very good.

We will be crossing Albemarle Sound and end up at either the Crocodile Marina or Belhaven NC.
