The leg from Kingston to Croton On Hudson was the most scenic spot that we have passed through thus far.

From the odd midieval Bannerman castle to the intimidating looking West Point buildings, the high hills on both sides of the Hudson all made it seem as if we were traveling along the Rhine or the Saguenay river.

It was a very long day, 56 miles in total. At times the rising tide slowed us down and then our speed picked up as high tide swung toward low tide. Tides on the Hudson swing close 5 feet at this time of year.

The marina here is nice. The manager Steve insisted that he drive us to find some wine. Having been in New York for weeks now we knew that grocery stores here only carry beer, but he was sure that the local ShopRite did ( the liquor stores were closed by this time ). So off we go and sure enough there was a very small shelf of wine. We picked up a Californian Cab Sav and a Merlot. We got back to the boat and we're so happy to have a Cab Sav to complement the steaks that we were barbecuing. I opened up the bottle, took my first taste and wow, doesn't it taste like grape juice. I looked at the label and saw that the alcohol content was 6% !! Ah...watered down wine. I guess we have to drink twice as much :-)
