The goal for today was to go from Spencerport to Palmyra. We made good time in sunny weather. The canal was lined by steep layered rock walls that looked similar to the ones you see in the Niagara Escarpment. At lock E32 however, there was a mechanical issue with getting the lock doors open. After waiting over an hour for the problem to be resolved, we were back on our way. The delay meant we had to stop sooner in Macedon. In Macedon we were able to fill up with diesel fuel, pump-out, have hot showers and make use of the WiFi. The flip side is that a mainline train runs right by us every 15 minutes and blows their horn. Get out the earplugs!
