Another gorgeous day on the water. Lynn got to see her first dolphin on this trip ! Yay! We had to maneuver through some narrow channels that up until a few weeks would have been difficult for FBG with her 5+ feet of draft to get through. Fortunately the US Army Corps of Engineers have dredged the ICW from Georgetown to McClellanville as well as the stretch to Charleston to its target 12' depth ! Yahoo!

On the way we encountered a tugboat with a HUGE train of gear they were pulling up the ICW. We had to stay clear of the "train" as well as not going over the many "crab pots" that the fisherman had played out right near the channel. You don't want to get these caught in your prop.

Lynn met a friend last night while doing laundry in Georgetownn who's name is Sparkle,...love that name. She and Lynn had a wonderful conversation about boating to Florida including some marinas we might want to consider.

We left Sparkle and headed off to McClellenville. This is a little town in the backwoods of South Carolina between Georgetown and Charleston with plenty of southern charm. The marina has very simple amenities. It is clean and had everything we needed.

There is a fish market in McClellenville that is somewhat similar to Dover's Pleasant Port Fish Market. We were told that their crab dip was to die for. They were right ! All of their seafood is caught that day and the dip was wonderful ! Lynn said she will never make her crab dip again as it would just pale in comparison.

Lynn and I washed FBG to make her presentable for her trip to Charleston tomorrow. She needed a lot of cleaning and we returned her back to her full beauty. We then took out our camping chairs and just sat on the dock with our drinks watching the sun set and staring out at the fish trawlers, pelicans and cormorants parade by. Lynn said this was her "best day" yet.

A lady named Cathy who lives in town came by to simply say hi and chat. She is originally from Pennsylvania, met a guy who lived down here, moved and has been here ever since. Absolutely loves it. It is so peaceful here. You can see how she would fall in love with the area.

I had chosen this marina because it was in line with Lynn's "no more than 30 miles" criteria and thought it might have been a little industrial with no charm but It has been the exact opposite. People in the southern US here are so friendly and accommodating. We love it.

Still haven't see an alligator on this trip yet
