The forecast was calling for rain tomorrow so we decided to push it today and get past Amsterdam and head to Schenectady. After a 41 mile journey we arrived at Shenectady at around 4pm.

The temperature has warmed up a bit, however last night it was so cold I had to take out my "Mr Heater". After you stop laughing I want to make it clear to you that it is a portable propane heater. I was a bit dubious of using it indoors but we do have a CO detector. It worked perfectly and we turned it off before going to bed.

Within that 48 mile trip today , we had to pass though 6 locks. Of the 35 locks on the Erie Canal, we are now down to 7. Once we get through these last locks, we will begin a direct southerly route down the Hudson river to New York City.
